The Action Plan is designed to guide us in a structured way toward fulfilling our vision. Each of the four priorities has specific objectives that offer us a sustainable approach to supporting healthy clubs and a strong organization, providing positive and engaging experiences for members and participants, and creating lasting change in the world. Remember these objectives when you think about long-term planning and how to improve the club experience, address challenges, act on opportunities, or build on your ideas.
What expanding our reach means to us
We develop new and inspiring ways for people to engage with Rotary, welcome diverse participants, and help them unite to take action.
This priority focuses on expanding our organization in thoughtful ways that add both members and participants. It’s about connecting with new and diverse groups and partners and improving people’s understanding of who we are and what we do. By sharing stories about your club members as people of action, you can give those who aren’t affiliated with Rotary a better understanding of what we do and how we make a difference — helping to attract members, volunteers, and donors
Why are we doing this?
When more people are involved with Rotary as members, participants, or partners, we have even more capacity to make change in the world. We need to provide new ways for people to experience Rotary, whether that’s through clubs that are more flexible or opportunities outside the traditional club model. By creating new ways to bring people into Rotary, welcoming more people from all backgrounds, and sharing our values with new audiences, we can increase our ability to develop leaders and create lasting change.
What does this mean for me? How can I take action?
Thinking about expanding our reach can be a way to help your club or district f ind solutions to challenges, address opportunities, and strengthen your purpose. Use materials that focus on expanding our reach to:
Share stories of the positive change your club creates
Ensure that your club is representative of your community
Use more than one method or platform to promote your club’s activities
Ask members and guests for feedback on your meetings and make changes accordingly
Offer people more flexibility in how they can attend club meetings and activities
Find ways to make your club more welcoming to new and diverse groups of people
Work with new partners to offer more engagement opportunities for members
Participate in local events that celebrate many different communities in your area
